Shock and grief have engulfed students and residents of Uasin Gishu County following the sudden death of a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student who reportedly collapsed while at a guest house near Mosombor Trading Centre under circumstances now being investigated by police.
The deceased, identified as 25-year-old Sharon Nyongesa, was reportedly in the company of an older man identified as Stanley Kipkemei when the tragic incident occurred. Sharon was undertaking her medical attachment at a local health facility as part of her studies and was described by colleagues and friends as hardworking, focused, and ambitious.
According to reports, the incident happened during the night after Sharon allegedly became unresponsive inside the room they had booked. The man is said to have raised alarm and sought assistance from nearby residents before she was rushed to a nearby clinic. However, medical personnel reportedly confirmed that she had already passed away upon arrival.

Police officers later arrived at the scene and launched investigations to establish the exact circumstances surrounding her death. Her body was moved to the mortuary at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where a postmortem examination is expected to determine the cause of death.
The tragic news has sparked emotional reactions online, especially among fellow students and friends who mourned her as a promising young medic whose life was cut short at a young age. Many took to social media to share condolence messages and photos in her memory.
Authorities have urged members of the public to avoid speculation and allow investigators to complete their inquiries before conclusions are drawn regarding the incident.
