‘Nipee Bet Yangu’ Osoro Tell Ruto As PSG Beats Arsenal in UEFA champions league final

–A light-hearted but pointed political jab has lit up Kenyan social media after Majority Chief Whip Silvanus Osoro publicly declared his support for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League final, directly referencing President William Ruto’s well-known love for Arsenal.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Osoro reminded the President: “Mr. President William Samoei Ruto, I told you on Thursday that you will be humbled on Saturday.” He added in Swahili, “Nipee bet yangu boss!! GGMU!! Bora sio Arsenal, niko sawa” (Give me my bet boss!! GGMU!! As long as it’s not Arsenal, I’m fine).
The message was accompanied by a striking promotional image of Osoro proudly wearing a PSG jersey, captioned as “Kenya’s Majority Chief Whip Osoro Supports PSG in UEFA Champions League Finals!”Ruto the GoonerPresident Ruto has never hidden his passion for English football club Arsenal.
The Head of State is widely known among Kenyans as a dedicated “Gooner,” frequently engaging with Arsenal’s results and sharing moments of celebration when the club performs well. His support for the North London side has become part of his public persona, often used by both supporters and critics for banter.
Osoro’s post appears to celebrate PSG’s strong position or victory in the Champions League context, using it as an opportunity to playfully “humble” the President, whose team was presumably eliminated earlier or not involved in the final stages.
Political Banter or Genuine Football Rivalry?
While the tone is clearly jovial and rooted in football passion, the exchange highlights how sports often intersect with Kenyan politics.
Osoro, a key ally of the President in Parliament, used the moment to mix loyalty with friendly rivalry — a common occurrence in Kenyan public life where football is religion for many.
As PSG prepares for (or celebrates) their Champions League campaign, many Kenyans are now watching the final not just for the European clubs, but to see whose “bet” wins between the President’s Arsenal heart and his Chief Whip’s new-found PSG allegiance.
Whether President Ruto will respond to the tease remains to be seen. For now, the battle lines are drawn: Arsenal in State House versus PSG in the Majority Whip’s corner.GGMU vs Allez Paris — only time (and the final score) will tell who gets the last laugh.
