Death has once again struck without mercy, plunging former Deputy President Hon. Rigathi Gachagua into deep mourning following the sudden passing of Rev. Catherine Macharia, the beloved wife of Bishop Dr. David Macharia, General Overseer of the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya.

The news of Rev. Catherine’s promotion to glory has sent shockwaves through the Christian community in Kenya, with tributes pouring in from political leaders, church members, and faithful across the country. Gachagua, who has maintained close ties with several evangelical leaders, was visibly moved by the loss. In a heartfelt message shared on his official social media platforms, the former Deputy President described the late Rev. Catherine as a woman who “lived a life of prayer, service to God and humanity.” He extended personal condolences to Bishop Macharia and the entire family.

“To Bishop Dr. David Macharia, please accept deepest condolences from Rev. Dorcas Rigathi and I at this difficult moment. To the Full Gospel Church members, we too condole with you and share in the pain and grief you bear,” Gachagua stated.

Rev. Catherine Macharia was widely regarded as a pillar of faith, a devoted servant of God, and a mother figure to many within the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya. Church members remember her as a prayerful woman whose gentle spirit and selfless service left an indelible mark on countless lives. Her passing has left a significant void in the church and the broader Christian fraternity.

Bishop Dr. David Macharia and the family are said to be receiving overwhelming support as they prepare for the burial arrangements. Several prominent figures, including Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, have also joined in sending messages of comfort.

This latest loss comes at a time when Gachagua continues to navigate public life following his impeachment. Sources close to the former DP say the news hit him hard, reminding many of the fragility of life and the inevitable pain that death brings to even the strongest among us. As the nation mourns with the Macharia family, prayers continue for divine comfort and strength during this trying season.
