Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika has sharply criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, describing his recent attacks on President William Ruto as hypocritical and timed only after his own impeachment. In a strongly worded post on X, Kihika questioned why Gachagua only began labeling President Ruto as “incompetent” after being removed from office.
The remarks were triggered by a video clip in which Gachagua accused President Ruto of mismanaging the country amid ongoing protests and public anger over fuel prices. Gachagua claimed that while Kenyans faced hardship, the President flew out on a luxury private jet reportedly costing KSh 5 million per hour, complete with a bedroom, spa, jacuzzi, steam sauna, and a massage parlor allegedly staffed by four girls from Seychelles.
Kihika dismissed the claims, writing: “So this man realized Ruto was incompetent after he was kicked out of office? Spare us your hypocrisy!” She added that the jet allegations lacked credibility, saying, “Ati 4 girls, even lying requires some intelligence.”
She further accused Gachagua of inciting unrest and then abandoning the affected regions. “You incited those you call your people and you took off while all the burning, looting and vandalism happened in their areas! What does burning of vehicles, super markets and trucks have to do with the global increase in the price of fuel?” she asked.
The public exchange highlights the growing rift between once-close allies in the Kenya Kwanza coalition and the intense political temperatures in the Mt. Kenya region. Gachagua has emerged as a fierce critic of the Ruto administration since his impeachment, while Kihika remains one of the President’s key supporters.
This latest war of words comes as Kenya continues to grapple with economic pressures, including the high cost of living and fuel prices. Neither Gachagua nor the Presidency had issued immediate responses at the time of publishing.
