H.E. President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta, the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, who has not been very present in the public sphere, has arrived in Kampala to join fellow leaders, government officials, and dignitaries for the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
President Museveni was re-elected during Uganda’s General Elections held on 15th January 2026. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place tomorrow, 12th May 2026, in Kampala, marking the beginning of another term for the long-serving Ugandan leader.
Upon arrival, Kenyatta was warmly received by Uganda’s Ambassador Katureebe Tayebwa alongside Kenya’s Ambassador Kipkosgei Toroitich. His presence underscores the strong diplomatic ties between Kenya and Uganda, as well as the tradition of regional solidarity during significant national milestones.
The inauguration is expected to draw a wide array of regional and international leaders, reflecting Uganda’s continued role in East African affairs. Analysts note that Kenyatta’s attendance highlights his ongoing influence in regional diplomacy even after leaving office, reinforcing Kenya’s commitment to fostering cooperation and stability across the region.

Meanwhile in Nairobi, H.E. President Dr. William Ruto, together with French President Emmanuel Macron, engaged with innovators at the University of Nairobi as part of the Africa Forward Summit.
