Celebrated Citizen Presenter Joins ODM, Vows To Unseat Babu Owino As MP

Radio personality Tina Ogal has formally embraced politics after joining Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) with plans of contesting for elective seat in 2027 General Election.

On Tuesday April 28, Tina Ogal made her entrance into the political scene at an ODM recruitment party chaired by ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo. Speaking during the event she announced her interest in vying for Embakasi East parliamentary seat that is currently held by Babu Owino.

Her decision to join politics is likely to heat up the political atmosphere in the constituency race that will commence in preparation for the next general elections.

Tina Ogal is famed for her bold swahili shows at Royal media services where she currently works and has been celebrated for connecting well with her audiences. She has spent over two decades in the radio presenting world.

Joining RMS in 2004 Tina rapidly grew her media career becoming one of the prominent radio presenter as well as Acting Head of Radio after Jeridah Andayi resigned. She follows the line of former politicians who started out in different careers before transitioning to leadership.

At the same event the party also welcomed Bayamin Mahat who has shown interest in contesting for the seat of Waberi Ward representative for Garissa County and Bobby Onunga who wisho to vie for Embakasi Ward.

ODM party affiliated to Leader of the Minority party Hon. Oburu Odinga continues recruiting and enlisting new members from different sectors into the party. ODM Women representative and party chairperson Gladys Wanga has been seen visiting different counties strengthening party grassroots structures.

According to Omanyo, this recruitment drive is targeted at widening democratic space and ensure inclusivity of everyone who feels they have the zeal and capability of participating in governance.
