Sifuna Sounds the Alarm: The Hidden Truth About the ODM and UDA Secret Pact

Share

The political landscape in Kenya has been set ablaze following the explosive revelations by Edwin Sifuna regarding the Memorandum of Understanding between the ODM party and the ruling UDA. For months, the public has been led to believe that the cooperation between these two political giants was a seamless transition toward national unity.

However, the reality on the ground suggests a much more turbulent relationship. Sifuna has stepped forward to clarify that the existence of a formal document signed by the President and the late opposition leader was never meant to be a permanent merger or a blanket endorsement of the current administration’s policies. Instead, it was a structured agreement with clear timelines and specific deliverables aimed at addressing the grievances of the Kenyan people.

The Secretary General pointed out that the 10-point agenda, which formed the backbone of this agreement, has seen little to no progress. Issues such as the audit of the 2022 general elections and the reduction of government expenditure remain untouched. While the government continues to operate, the specific conditions that were supposed to benefit the common citizen appear to have been sidelined in favor of political expediency.

Sifuna expressed deep frustration with the oversight committee, suggesting that they have spent more time on administrative bureaucracy than on actual implementation. With the deadline fast approaching in March 2026, the pressure is mounting on both sides to show results or face a complete breakdown of the cooperation.

Furthermore, the revelation of parallel funding for certain political activities has raised eyebrows across the nation. Sifuna made it clear that the party headquarters has not been financing recent high-profile rallies, hinting at a shadow operation that uses the party’s colors and symbols without official sanction.

This internal friction highlights a growing divide within the opposition ranks, as some members seem to have embraced the trappings of power while others remain committed to the original mission of holding the government accountable. The next thirty days will be a critical period for Kenyan politics, as the expiration of the MOU could lead to a massive realignment of forces ahead of the next electoral cycle.
