Nyamira County’s political landscape has shifted after the opposition clinched three key ward seats in the recently concluded by-elections. The decisive victories mark a significant moment for local leadership as voters opted for new representation across Ekerenyo, Nyamaiya, and Nyansiongo wards.

In Ekerenyo Ward, Hon. Jeremiah Ong’aro of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) emerged victorious, securing the confidence of residents seeking stronger grassroots development. His win reflects growing faith in UPA’s community-focused agenda and its promises for improved public services.

Nyamaiya Ward also recorded a commanding win for the opposition, with Hon. Chris Osiemo (UPA) taking the MCA seat. Osiemo’s triumph underscores shifting political dynamics as locals rally behind leaders they believe will champion accountability and economic empowerment at the ward level.

The third victory came from Nyansiongo Ward, where Hon. Jackson Mogusu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was declared the winner. Mogusu’s success highlights PDP’s rising influence in Nyamira and the electorate’s desire for transformative leadership.

The opposition’s sweep of all three contested seats sends a clear message about the county’s evolving political direction. Residents appear eager for new leadership that prioritizes transparency, development, and inclusive governance. As the newly elected MCAs take office, expectations are high for stronger ward representation and accelerated progress across Nyamira County.

This by-election outcome not only reshapes local politics but also signals the growing strength of smaller parties like UPA and PDP in regional governance.
