Mrs. Ruto, wife to President Dr. William Ruto, was the among members of the First Family present at the solemn ceremony. In her tribute shared on her X (formerly Twitter) account, she described Kogo Prisca as a “remarkable matriarch whose faith, love, and resilience shaped generations.”

First Lady Rachel Ruto on Friday attended the burial of Kogo Prisca Tororei (1920–2025), the revered family matriarch remembered for her deep faith, love, and resilience that shaped generations. Kogo Prisca, who lived to the age of 105, was laid to rest in a private ceremony attended by close family members in Uasin Gishu County.

“Every day we spend with our loved ones is a blessing, and when God grants us many years together, we are reminded of His enduring grace and faithfulness,” she wrote.
“We thank God for the long life He granted her, for the lessons she taught, and for the legacy of prayer, humility, and service she leaves behind.”

Relatives and members of the community remembered Kogo Prisca as a woman of prayer whose wisdom and generosity left a lasting mark on all who knew her. Her long life, spanning more than a century, stood as a testament to endurance, grace, and unwavering faith.

The First Lady’s attendance underscored the close bond she shared with the late matriarch and the family’s gratitude for a life well lived. Kogo Prisca’s memory, Mrs. Ruto noted, will continue to live through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as the community she nurtured with love.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
