Gilgil, Nakuru County — At least six people are feared dead following a tragic head-on collision between a private car and a truck at Soysambu near Gilgil along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway.
The accident occurred at around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, when the saloon car heading toward Nakuru reportedly collided head-on with an oncoming truck.
According to initial reports, all six occupants of the private car died on the spot due to the impact. The exact number of passengers in the truck has not yet been confirmed.
Photos from the scene showed the mangled wreckage of the saloon car, which was extensively damaged at the front. Emergency responders and police officers arrived at the site shortly after the crash to clear the debris and facilitate traffic flow along the busy highway.
The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the Gilgil Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where they await identification by family members. Both vehicles involved in the crash have been towed to the Gilgil Police Station for further inspection and investigation.
Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution, especially during early morning and late-night hours when visibility tends to be poor.
The Nakuru–Nairobi Highway has recorded several fatal accidents in recent years, often attributed to speeding, reckless overtaking, and fatigue among long-distance drivers.
