Football fans in Kenya have expressed their disappointment and frustration following the complete sell-out of tickets for the highly anticipated CHAN 2025 clash between Harambee Stars and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
With only a few days left before the showdown, supporters are scrambling for any available tickets, many taking to social media to vent their concerns and call for more transparency in the ticketing process. Some have alleged hoarding and black market sales, further fueling tensions.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) has responded sternly to the unfolding ticket crisis. In a statement released, the committee warned individuals found hoarding or reselling tickets at inflated prices that they risk facing legal action.
“We are aware of attempts by some individuals to buy tickets in bulk and resell them illegally. This is a criminal offence, and anyone caught will face prosecution,” said an LOC spokesperson.
The match, set to take place at Nyayo National Stadium, has generated significant interest, with both teams in strong form and battling for a crucial spot in the CHAN 2025 tournament.
Despite the frustrations, the LOC insists that the ticketing system was designed to be fair and secure. However, fans are calling for future matches to have better systems in place to ensure equal access and prevent scalping.
Security is expected to be heightened at the venue, with officials promising a safe and electric atmosphere for those who secured their tickets on time.
