Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has stirred the political waters after asserting that former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has already been settled on as the United Opposition’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview with Egesa FM, the outspoken lawmaker criticized Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi and South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro for opposing Matiang’i’s bid.

Arama urged the two to reconsider their political positions and rally behind the Dr Fred Matiang’i.

“ Dr. Matiang’i is our candidate for the presidency. This is not the time to speak in different voices,” Arama declared.

He said Matiang’i represents the strongest choice to challenge the ruling administration. According to Arama, unity within the coalition is now more crucial than ever, and divergent voices only serve to weaken the opposition’s momentum.

Arama further cautioned Nyakundi and Osoro against opposing Matiang’i since he has emerged as the best candidate among the Gusii electorate.

His remarks are expected to spark debate within political circles, especially as the opposition prepares to officially unveil its flag bearer. With Matiang’i’s name now firmly in the spotlight, attention shifts to how the rest of the coalition’s leadership and supporters will respond to Arama’s bold proclamation.
