Beneficiaries of the 2024/2025 bursary programme in West Mugirango Constituency can now breathe a sigh of relief after the much-awaited cheques for colleges and middle-level tertiary institutions were officially released.
The announcement was made ahead of the scheduled disbursement starting Tuesday, May 21, 2025.
The bursary fund, totaling KSh 44.9 million, was launched on March 31, 2025, to support students in secondary and tertiary institutions. At the time, the cheques for universities had already been distributed, and accounts of the beneficiaries duly credited.
However, funds for colleges and middle-level tertiary institutions had not been disbursed pending clearance from the exchequer.
In a Facebook post, the West Mugirango NG-CDF office confirmed that all cheques for college and tertiary beneficiaries are now ready for collection.
Students who qualified, or their parents and guardians, are encouraged to pick up the cheques starting May 21, 2025, from the NG-CDF offices located in Nyamira Town. Collection will take place on weekdays during normal working hours.
Importantly, those collecting the cheques must present their national identity cards as a requirement for verification. The office emphasized that only the listed beneficiaries or their verified guardians will be allowed to collect the funds.
Additionally, parents and guardians who have yet to pick up earlier cheques meant for secondary school students are urged to do so within the week.
The CDF office noted that prompt collection of the cheques will ensure smooth processing and timely fee payments for learners.
The bursary programme, under the stewardship of the area Mp Steve Mogaka, is part of an ongoing effort to promote access to education and alleviate the financial burden on families. With the theme #Kazikwanza and #Kazikwakasi, the bursary drive continues to symbolize a commitment to equitable education and community development in West Mugirango.
