Share

As the tenure of Dr. Nancy Macharia, the long-serving CEO of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), draws to a close on June 30, 2025, the race to find her successor is intensifying. The TSC has set May 27, 2025, as the deadline for submission of applications for the coveted position. Dr. Macharia, who has served diligently for 10 years, expressed satisfaction with the milestones achieved during her term, paving the way for a new leader to take the helm.

Among the top contenders is Cheptumo Ayabei, the current Director of Finance at TSC. A seasoned professional, Ayabei is highly respected among staff and is known for his diligence and integrity.

A trained Mathematics and Economics teacher from Kenyatta University, Ayabei has demonstrated strong leadership and fiscal discipline, making him a serious candidate. He hails from Baringo County.

Another strong contender is Antonina Lentoijoni, the Director of Staffing at TSC. Her position is considered one of the most powerful within the commission. With a background in teaching at Kirisia Secondary School and hailing from Samburu County, Lentoijoni brings vast experience in staffing and human resource management. Her influence and operational knowledge position her as a formidable competitor.

Also speculated to be in the running is Dr. Julius Jwan, an educationist with a Bachelor’s degree from Moi University. Dr. Jwan boasts a rich career as a teacher, university lecturer, and a key player in curriculum development. His technocratic experience and deep understanding of the education sector further strengthen his candidacy.

As the deadline looms, all eyes are on the Upper Hill offices to see who will emerge to steer the TSC into its next chapter.
