As secondary schools prepare to reopen next week, West Mugirango Member of Parliament (MP) Wakili Steve Mogaka has issued an important update to parents and guardians regarding the disbursement of bursary cheques.
Through a message shared on his official Facebook page, the MP announced that all bursary cheques are ready for collection starting Friday, April 25, 2025.
In his statement, Mogaka noted that while many parents and guardians have already collected the cheques, a significant number remain unclaimed at the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) offices in Nyamira.
He particularly pointed out that most of the uncollected cheques belong to students who are studying in secondary schools located outside Nyamira County.
“I want to report to you that all the bursary cheques are ready for collection from office [for those who have not done so] from tomorrow, 25th April 2025,” Mogaka stated.
He further emphasized the need for parents and guardians to prioritize the collection, especially those whose children are the sole beneficiaries at their respective institutions. This move is intended to ensure that all students have the financial support they need in time for the new school term.
The MP’s call comes at a critical time when many families are facing financial challenges due to the rising cost of living. Bursaries are a lifeline for many students who might otherwise be unable to continue their education.
By making these funds available promptly, Mogaka’s office aims to reduce the financial strain on families and guarantee that no student misses school due to fee constraints.
Additionally, Mogaka’s communication reflects his commitment to ensuring that education remains a priority for the people of West Mugirango.
The MP has been vocal about his belief that empowering young people through education is key to transforming the community and fostering long-term development.
Parents and guardians are therefore encouraged to visit the NG-CDF offices in Nyamira as soon as possible to collect the bursary cheques.
Timely collection will not only help in smooth school admissions and transitions but will also affirm the constituency’s collective effort towards promoting education for all.
In closing, MP Mogaka reassured the public of his continued support towards education initiatives, urging the community to remain proactive in matters affecting the future of their children.
