Quality Over Compromise: MP Stephen Mogaka Demands Top Standards for West Mugirango Roads

In a bold and unwavering stance, Hon. Wakili Stephen Mogaka, Member of Parliament for West Mugirango, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the roads in his constituency meet the highest standards of construction. Speaking on behalf of his constituents, Mogaka emphasized that taxpayers deserve value for their money, and that substandard roadwork is unacceptable.

“On behalf of the great people of West Mugirango, I will continue to insist that our roads be built to the highest standard—not shoddy work,” Mogaka declared. “The people’s money deserves quality and accountability.”

This declaration comes at a time when infrastructure projects across Kenya are under increasing scrutiny. From delayed completions to poor workmanship, citizens are demanding better accountability from elected leaders and contractors alike. Mogaka’s vocal advocacy for quality is seen as a strong message to both government agencies and contractors tasked with road projects in his region.

West Mugirango, located in Nyamira County, is an agriculturally rich constituency that relies heavily on good roads to transport produce to markets. Poor road conditions not only hinder economic activity but also contribute to road safety issues and vehicle maintenance costs for local residents. For Mogaka, infrastructure is not just a political issue but a socioeconomic one.

“Every kilometer of road constructed improperly is a betrayal to the hardworking taxpayer. We must rise above mediocrity and demand excellence in public service delivery,” he added.

Hon. Mogaka’s legal background as a seasoned advocate has also shaped his approach to governance. He has consistently championed transparency, constitutionalism, and community engagement. He believes that development should not be measured merely by completion of projects, but by their long-term impact and sustainability.

“When we accept mediocrity, we normalize corruption. When we normalize corruption, we compromise the future of our children,” Mogaka remarked during a community forum.

His push for quality roads also highlights a broader issue in public infrastructure projects—the lack of effective monitoring and the tendency to cut corners in procurement and implementation. Mogaka is calling on government agencies such as the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to collaborate more closely with Members of Parliament and local stakeholders to ensure that standards are met and funds are well-utilized.

Citizens in West Mugirango have responded positively to his leadership, often citing his accessibility and hands-on approach as refreshing and effective. By taking a firm stand on infrastructure, Mogaka is not only safeguarding public resources but also inspiring a culture of accountability and civic vigilance.

“Our people have waited too long. It’s time we built roads that will last generations—not just until the next rainy season,” he said with conviction.

As development continues to shape the future of rural Kenya, leaders like Hon. Stephen Mogaka are setting the tone for responsible, quality-driven governance—one road at a time.
