Why Uganda Is Recording Low Covid-19 Cases Than Kenya – CS Mutahi Kagwe

On Tuesday 19 May 2020 the Cabinet Secretary of health Mutahi Kagwe stated the reason as to why Kenya is recording high cases that neighboring country, Uganda. Speaking from Afya house while Briefing the state about COVID-19 pandemic, Mutahi said, the neighboring country Uganda has been recording low cases than Kenya due to total lockdown that was imposed by the Ugandan Government in a bid to combat the spread of COVID-19 in that country.

Mutahi further said, the government of Kenya has not imposed total lockdown, and perhaps that’s the major reason for high COVID-19 cases reported in Kenya. Mutahi indicated that Nairobi records more cases of COVID-19 that adds up 470 followed by Mombasa with 331 cases. However, In his speech Mutahi indicated that Mombasa has high cases of people succumbed to Covid-19 than Nairobi.

While address, CS Mutahi affirmed that the government had deployed mobile testing machine for testing COVID-19. Mutahi indicated that one mobile testing facility is stationed at the Namanga border in Kajiando and another one in Naivasha for testing truck drivers. However, the government of Kenya is embracing it’s bold effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
