ODM leader Raila Odinga has been a reckon and force of change in Kenyan politics since the struggle of independence. Just like his father the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Raila has been trying so hard to find supremacy. His father was the vice to Mzee Jomo Kenyatta but things fell apart between the two and Moi was endorsed by Mzee.
Rails came close into power in 2007 where he shared power with retired former third president of the Republic of Kenya Mwai Kibaki. The elections witnessed post election violence and the African Union had to come in to rescue lives of innocent citizens who were being slaughtered.

In 2017 he also came close when the supreme court nullified the election results for it lacked transparency. Raila swore himself in as people’s president but due to public interest he took a handshake with president Kenyatta.
He has not yet stated whether he will vie come 2022 or not but here are some of the reasons why Baba might decide to retire from national politics.

Age
Raila has been in active politics since Kenya attained independence. His age is worrying and the constitution has also set it’s limit.Recently he was flewed to Dubai for a surgery and this might convince Tinga to only remain a force of influence but not engage actively in politics.

Repeated failure
After the 2017 election results were announced and Raila said that they are going to file a petition, one journalist asked him why he cries every year after election that it was rigged. In all his many attempts, Raila has not made into power and thus some of his supporters lose confidence in him.
