The current political stalemate is who will the president support in the next general elections. Neither Raila nor Ruto is sure but he said in one of his meetings that he has no preferred candidate. David Murathe has come out and shade some lights on the future of the two political giants with his excellency the president. Murathe speaking at an interview in a television said that Kenyans should prepare for the leadership of the ODM leader.
He added that Raila has been on the forefront to champion for democracy and therefore 2022 is his time.He urged Raila’s political rival Ruto to back the former prime minister for his time has come and he (Ruto) should wait for his term in 2022.The outspoken former jubilee vice chair has been making political predictions and in some cases it was alleged that he was being used by the president.
Murathe has kept on changing in his comments for at one point he threatened ODM to leave the handshake if they are not comfortable in sharing the parliamentary positions. He had also warned senators who would try to fail the new revenue sharing formula and ODM senators led the house in defying.
COTU secretary general, Francis Atwoli has been the recent one to add on Murathe’s views. Atwoli has said that it is the right time the ODM leader be given a chance to rule for he has been on the forefront to fight for the nation. Political analyst Herman Manyora in one of his You tube analysis said that Raila is the only man to beat Ruto.
Raila’s brother Oburu Odinga in one of his speeches said that the ODM leader will be on the ballot. According to Oburu, Raila has been winning elections but has not been sworn as president. He said that what they lacked (ODM) was the system and now they have the system.(President Kenyatta through the handshake and BBI initiative)
Uhuru has worked through maintaining a good relation with Raila as witnessed in parliamentary roles changes. The BBI has bounded the two leaders together and it seems that when 2022 comes, Uhuru will back Raila for the top seat now that he is apart with his deputy William Ruto.
