Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli is dead. According to various news outlets in Tanzania on Wednesday March 17, Magufuli died of heart problems.

The news comes weeks after speculations surrounding his health started circulating online. Kenyans on Twitter went ahead to leak information on the whereabouts of the president.

Tanzanians kept asking about their president health when reports showed that he had been admitted at a hospital in Nairobi.

Various news outlets revealed that a prominent leader had been admitted at Nairobi Hospital which was under heavy security at the time.

Last week, Tundu Lissu, leader of the opposition claimed that Magufuli was ailing and his condition was bad. He was ridiculed as being a rumor monger and rebuked by most Tanzanians.

This comes barely weeks after Zanzibar lost its vice president. This is also due to the ignorance that was witnessed in the country when Covid19 hit the continent last year.

Tanzanians maintained their lifestyle despite countries going into lock down. Magufuli was defiant that the virus would not affect his people.

The president leaves behind a country shattered by indecisiveness amid the pandemic.
