On Tuesday, May 18, Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platinumz took to his Instagram page to express his disappointment with a list that ranked him in a position where he doesn’t fit as far as richness is concerned.
A list ranking top 30 richest musicians in Africa has been going round on online platforms and it has attracted various reactions from netizens. The list ranked the musicians according to their net worth in US dollars. The list which was purported to be from Forbes, placed Diamond Platinumz at position 28 with a net worth of $5.1 million.
It caught the attention of Diamond and he had to react. He dismissed the list claiming it had underestimated his net worth. What made it more worse is that the list had ranked Kenya’s Akothee at position 15 with a net worth of $10 million. This could be among the things that angered Diamond.
The Tanzanian superstar could not believe that the list had placed the Kenyan female superstar above him. The list which was shared by ThingsToKnow.com.ng placed Uganda’s Bobi Wine and Jose Chameleon at positions 18 and 24 respectively. The two were both valued at $5 million each.
Diamond Platinumz termed the list as a ‘stupid’ list. He further asked Forbes to google his name to know his worth the next time they want to publish such a list.
That list really upset the Tanzanian artiste. “Forbes: next time google me to know what I am really worth of, before putting me on your Stupid Richest African Musicians List!” wrote Diamond Platinumz.
Senegalese musician Youssou N’dour was placed at position one with a net worth of $145 million. He was followed by Akon ($80 million), Black Coffee ($60 million), Wizkid ($21 million) and Davido ($20 million) who completed the top five positions.
