Football powerhouse St Anthony High School in Kitale was inaugurated as Center of excellence by Football Kenya Federation (FKF). According to Capital FM on Wednesday February 24, the school was given that status after dominating high school soccer.
A Memorundum of Understanding was signed between FKF and the school and would run until February 2026.
This deal involves helping train the coaching staff at the school and providing equipment. 20 balls were donated on Wednesday to officially start the process.
“St Anthony is the national defending champions. They won the U16 championships in 2018 as well. Their consistency in churning out talent at this level is what has motivated us to enter into this partnership,” said FKF CEO Barry Otieno during the signing of the partnership.
“We have a long-term vision of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Youth development is therefore key in our agenda as we seek to actualize this dream. FKF, thus, remains open to exploring partnership opportunities geared towards giving opportunities to young talents to showcase their talents,” he added.
The school also promised to provide scholarships to 20 students in their first year of study so that they could learn while also improving their soccer skills at the school.
FKF also stated that they would hold camps at the school during the holidays to get more talented young people who had an interest in football.
