This time round the Japanese had a good game and managed to handle the pressure well from the veteran. Williams lost 6-3 and 6-4 and dropped out of the race for a record 24th Grand Slam.

Osaka now heads to the final looking forward to adding a fourth Grand Slam title to her collection. The 23 year old was excited and mentioned that she was honored to play against a great opponent in Serena Williams.

She also revealed that she always felt intimidated by Serena Williams but had the utmost respect for the tennis great.

This setback now has Serena Williams going 4 years without winning a tittle. Her last win came in 2017 before she became pregnant.
