Self-proclaimed Ugandan ‘God’ to Receive State Burial

Faith Unity Founder Deteo Owobusobozi Bisaka was pronounced dead on Sunday January 24. The self-proclaimed Ugandan God was reported dead after weeks of speculations.

The Daily Monitor in Uganda reported that Bisaka died in Kenya where he had been taken to receive better medical care. The family did not reveal his ailments but noted that the burial would be state funded.

Government officials met the family on Friday in Kampala to discuss burial arrangements.

According to area MP Mr Karubanga, the government of Uganda had met with the family to decide on the way forward. He noted that Bisaka would be accorded a decent send off.

“His Excellency the President has also guided that the burial arrangements should adhere to the Government guidelines that have been put in place to fight COVID 19,” Mr Karubanga said.

Bisaka was a key religious figure in Uganda with thousands of followers in the country. The once Muhorro Primary teacher was a son of a catechist and also a choir leader.

He was born on June 11th 1930 in Buyanja County and grew up as a Catholic. He went ahead to form his own church Faith Unity and had followers in Rwanda, DRC and South Sudan.

His followers pray on the 2nd, 12th and 22nd of each month and believe in him as their god.

Bisaka will be burried on January 31st at Kapyemi Hill in Muhorro town.
