KNUT Secretary General, Wilson Sossion has asked the Teacher’s Service Commission to pay head teachers all pending salary increments from July 2019 to June 2020.

A total of 103,634 teachers were left out by the TSC during the implementation of the phase three of the 2017-2021 collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
The school administrators include chief principals, senior principals, principals, head teachers, deputies and senior teachers.
“It is against International labour practices for an employer to withhold teachers salaries when the finances have been budgeted for,”said Mr. Sossion.
Due to the failure of payment, most of the teachers opted to join the Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET) whose members received the full CBA increments.
He further added that the Commission should not punish teachers for the mistakes they did not do.
The TSC is expected to close the July payroll on Monday and headteachers want to be included.
A further 3,800 vocational and technical education Teachers were left out in phase three. This is after they were transferred under the Public Service Commission in 2018.
The Unions have been pushing for the teachers arrears since the implementation of the CBA in 2019.
