Pope Francis Delivers Good News to Cardinal John Njue

Pope Francis had good news for the retiring Nairobi Archbishop Cardinal John Njue. In a letter that was delivered to the diocese on Monday, January 4, 2021, the Pope finally agreed to Njue’s wishes.
Cardinal John Njue had requested to retiring from leading the Nairobi diocese and was awaiting a response from Pope Francis. The response finally came with good news that the Pope was in agreement with the decision.
“I wish to inform you that His Holiness Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of His Eminence John Cardinal Njue as Archbishop of Nairobi, ” read the letter.
The letter was delivered by Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya Archbishop Hubertus Van Megen. The letter also had more information on the transition of leadership.
The Pope appointed Auxiliary Bishop David Kamau who would take on administrative duties at the Nairobi diocese.
Bishop Kamau had been in service of the diocese since 1999.
