John Waluke was charged by the Anti-corruption court Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Juma On the 25th of June with a hefty fine of 1.02 Billion or a jail term of over 50 years due to the corruption allegations against him.
However, the case took another twist after prominent lawyers led by Law society of Kenya President Nelson Havi came out to defend him against the charges.

Nelson Havi remarked, “John Waluke and Grace Wakhungu contracted with NCPB. NCBP breached the contract. Arbitrator ordered payment. Award was enforced by High Court. NCPB lost before High Court and Court of Appeal and paid the decree. How can that be a crime? Do not celebrate fraudulent convictions.”

The plan to save Waluke backfired as other people gave out enough reasons why Waluke’s case was rightfully handled
“Why is @NelsonHavi — President of @lawsocietykenya — impugning the court for justly convicting VIP felons GUILTY of serious economic crimes? POWERFUL Kenyans are never convicted of corruption. We MUST celebrate these two convictions. Kudos to Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Juma!” Vocal lawyer Prof Makau Mutua said.

Mituku Mbithi ,”Like we have required of the Government, we must respect and be seen to respect Court Orders, however much we disagree with the Courts issuing such Orders.”
“Wakili this is low. Too low. These guys never supplied a grain of maize or spent a penny. They forged documents to fleece the public. Proceeded to enforce their fraud through courts. Justifying that fraud is unconscionable and unacceptable from your seat. Throw away your phone,” David Makali tweeted
