Deputy president William Ruto’s voyage now seems to have come to a temporary halt and taken a tactical retreat, as he seemingly goes back to the drawing board to chant the best possible strategy ahead of 2022. His campaign teams have all gone silent, including his very vocal supporters and allies across the political space. Some leaders perceived to be his allies have either jumped ship and gone back to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp, or are now in denial of the Dp and chanting their own political paths.
Some have become so scared about loosing their lucrative jobs and parastatal positions that they have now shied away from engaging the Dp directly. Others have resorted to informing the Head of State about Ruto’s moves and tactics in a bid to have them in the President’s good books. Vocal Laikipia Women Representative Cate Waruguru and Nakuru legislator Samuel Arama jumped ship in favor of the president and have since gone on the offense in attacking Dp Ruto.

The two, once considered to be Ruto allies, have switched their allegiance in support of the president. Malindi Mp Aisha Jumwa and her Kilifi North counterpart Owen Baya have refused yo campaign for the Dp anymore. The two are now engaged in forming their own political party to do their bidding come 2022.   Ruto allies in the vast Western and Gusii region have also gone silent, with former Sports CS Rashid Echesa now pledging his loyalty to president Kenyatta’s big four agenda.

Mount Kenya legislators allied to Dp Ruto also seem to have been boxed into submission within the area, with president Kenyatta now in firm control of the region. A move that has seen Dp Ruto and his remaining allies take a back seat in their campaigns, with their supporters all but confused about the next strategy to be taken. Political analysts have also termed it as a big win for the president, having successfully sidelined the Dp and his allies even further. It only remains to be seen the next possible course of action to be adopted by the Dp as he guns for the top seat come 2022.
