MP Alice Wahome’s Security To Be Restored Immediately; Court Orders

The High Court has order the Inspector General to restore Kandara’s MP security detail.

Kandara’s MP, Ms  Alice Wahome, told the court that she has been unable to perform her duties and responsibilities effectively due to the withdrawal of her security detail.
She argued that the withdrawal had exposed her to insecurity risks that hinderered her to perform her duties to the residents of Kandara Constituency.
Through her lawyer, Stephen Gitonga, she argued that she has never been charged with any crime hence the decision was unfair.
Justice James Makau said that it was illegal for the police boss to recall Ms Wahome’s security without disclosing the reason behind the withdrawal.

The judge added that there was no evidence that the MP had committee any crime.
The officer argued that Ms Wahome committed an electoral offence when she harassed an election officer
Ms Wahome claimed that the withdrawal was aimed at intimidating her to change her political stand and beliefs.
The withdrawal was made on January 20th after the police said that they won’t provide security to  VIP’s who are suspected to be involved in crime.
The judge ruled that the withdrawal was illegal band ordered immediate restoration of the security team.
