Despite not making it clear whether he will be on the ballot or not, many political analysts have said that with no doubt, Raila Amollo Odinga will be on the ballot. Nairobi university lecturer and political analyst Herman Manyora, through his weekly updates in his You Tube channel said that 2022 elections will be a two horse race.He further tipped Raila Odinga to be the only man that can defeat Ruto because he has been consistent and experienced as far as Kenyan politics are concerned.
Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago in 2017 seemed to enjoy a good relationship with Raila after the ODM leader endorsed him.The endorsement came after Zedekiah Bunditich Kiprop (BUZEKI) became a threat to Mandago who was seeking to maintain his governance.Things have changed as Mandago made worrying comments about the 2022 general elections if both Raila and Ruto will be on the ballot.
Speaking at a burial in Uasin Gishu county of member of parliament Cornelly Serem, Mandago urged the region to continue praying for Raila so that he can witness Ruto become president.Raila’s health has been worrying since he returned form Dubai after undergoing a surgery.Details emerged that showed the ODM leader was going through a difficult time as he tried to walk in the garden.
Mandago wanted the former prime minister to be kept in prayer so that he might recover and be fit to witness the next elections. Raila and Ruto were in good terms at one point but they fell apart and are all seeking for supremacy. In 2013 and 2017, Raila lost respectively to Jubilee led by Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto who is now eyeing for presidency.
The claims by the uasin Gishu governor comes as win to Ruto’s supporter and blow to Raila who is seeking to restore dominance in the region.ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya on Sunday hosted delegates from West pilot in what was termed as seeking dominance in the dp’s turf.
