Magoha Scrutinizes Maseno University Ahead Of The Expected Reopening

Education CS Prof George Magoha visited Maseno University to access on their preparedness towards reopening.

Magoha scrutinized various places within the institution of learning and checked whether the management of the University under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor Nyabundi was compliant to the ministry of health minimum requirements.

He toured the students hostels and lecture halls to access whether they will be able to accommodate the first group of students who are expected to report soon.
He reiterated that many Universities are not ready for reopening in the context of the health guidelines on covid-19.

Maseno University administration has not yet come out clear on when the students are likely to report.

Magoha asked the institutions of higher learning to adopt Online learning prior to face to face sessions in January 2021.

This comes as All TTCs, TVETs and Universities expected reopen for face-to-face sessions in January 2021.

Robust multi-sectoral approach will be employed to step up preparedness for reopening in compliance with MOH protocols on mitigating the COVID-19 effects.

The education Ministry recently announced that authorization to re-open for face to face teaching, learning and research, will be based on further guidance from Ministry of Health based on the dynamics of preparedness.
