Current English Premier League Champions Liverpool have been dealt a huge blow after their captain Jordan Henderson is set to miss the remainder of the season.  Henderson sustained a knee injury during his side’s premier league match against Brighton and Hove Albion. A challenge from Brighton’s Yves Bissouma proved strong enough for the midfielder leading to a damaged left knee. He limped out of okay and never featured again, even though his side sailed through with a 3-1 victory.
And at his Friday pre-match press conference, Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp revealed that Henderson would be well out for the rest of the season due to the injury. That his side would be without their captain even as they seek to break former champions Manchester City’s record of 100 premier league points. But on the flip side, Klopp stated that Henderson would not be needing any surgery as had earlier on been feared. And this the former Sunderland play maker is expected to be back for the start of the 2020-21 season.
Klopp was full of praise for his captain, terming him a fantastic leader who had guided his side to a premier league title after 30 years of waiting. He also expressed his belief that they would be having Henderson back when the 2020-21 season comes knocking, terming him as a quick healer. And as for their upcoming fixture against an in form Burnley, Klopp revealed that defender Dejan Lovren is available for team selection. Lovren had been sidelined for a while with a knock, but he has since shaken it off and is mostly likely to feature this Saturday.
A win against Burnley could push Liverpool to 95 points, just 5 points shy of Manchester City’s 100 points best ever tally. Their remaining fixtures after Burnley include Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle, and Klopp would be keen to have his team collect all three points on all three matches if at all they were to surpass the 100 points mark. Having already been declared the 2019-20 EPL Champions, they have proved too hot to handle all through the season, with second placed Manchester City a whooping 23 points away from the champions. Truly, they gave become the ‘Unbearables’.
