The former prime minister Raila Odinga has enjoyed the support of the coastal region. The residents have voted for him overwhelmingly in the past presidential elections.
However, Raila Odinga has faced rebellion from the leaders who were once allied to him such as Aisha Jumwa and Amason Kingi.
Kilifi governor Amason Kingi is planning to come up a coastal region party that will bring together leaders from the region to fight for their interests.
Today Kingi announced that they held a meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta at State House alongside governor Hassan Joho and governor Mvurya.
“Today, we had a meeting with HE Uhuru at @StateHouseKenya, together with my colleagues @HassanAliJoho and @governor_mvurya,” Amason Kingi posted on Twitter.
Uhuru’s meeting with the coastal region governor angered leaders allied to Ruto who warned him against a possible betrayal.
Itumbi remarked, “Finishing ODM in the Coast. Clipping the wings of @RailaOdinga and attempting to make him a Luo Nyanza Leader.”
Dennis Itumbi and Kericho senator Aaron Cheruiyot told Raila to be careful as the president my be trying to control the coastal region behind his back.
“Why would a president who is supposed to be a symbol of national unity fight this hard to vanquish strong national parties like ODM & Jubilee? N promote weak regional caricatures of tribal Formations? Stranger than the Pope opening a brothel. Tuiombee Kenya Jameni,” Aaron Cheruiyot said.
