As one of the largest digital transport platforms in the country, Bolt serves thousands of commuters daily and provides vital income streams across several Kenyan cities and towns.

To mitigate panic, the ride-hailing company issued a broader statement to its community:

“We would like to reassure our community that Bolt continues to operate normally in Kenya and remains focused on delivering safe, reliable, and innovative services while creating economic opportunities across the country.”

Rather than slowing down, Bolt revealed it is actively expanding its footprint in Kenya, specifically looking toward sustainable green transport. The platform has already rolled out more than 1,700 electric motorcycles under its ongoing expansion strategy to support eco-friendly courier and boda boda (motorcycle taxi) services.

Meanwhile, the firm is not taking the cyber-misinformation lightly. Bolt confirmed that a formal internal investigation has been launched to track down the originators of the fabricated letter.

“We are currently investigating the source of the fabricated document and will take appropriate action against the creation and dissemination of misleading information that misrepresents the company,” Bolt asserted.

Management has urged all drivers, customers, and members of the public to completely disregard the viral notice and refrain from sharing or amplifying it further. For authentic updates, Kanyankole advised stakeholders to only rely on Bolt’s official verified social channels or reach out directly to their communications desk.

Ride-hailing giant Bolt Kenya has strongly dismissed rumors circulating online that it plans to exit the Kenyan market and shut down its local operations.
