Public service vehicle operators have recently hiked fares by up to 50 percent in some areas, adding to the economic strain.

Nyoro, a vocal defender of certain government proposals on fuel pricing, argued that Parliament must redeem itself by pushing for greater transparency and opening up the sector to genuine market competition. He described the current setup as lacking competition, ultimately leaving Kenyan consumers at a disadvantage.“Markets exist to give the consumer the best deal,” he emphasized.

“When you close the market to the dealer, it means the end user will always be taken advantage of.”The MP called on fellow parliamentarians to rise above partisan loyalties and propose solutions that genuinely alleviate the pain at the pump, rather than rubber-stamping existing arrangements.

Nyoro’s explosive comments have already sparked intense reactions online, with many Kenyans demanding a full audit of G2G contracts and the beneficial owners behind the companies involved. As fuel prices and the cost of living remain hot-button issues ahead of future political battles, his remarks are likely to fuel further scrutiny of how Kenya procures its petroleum products.

The government has previously defended G2G deals as strategic moves to stabilize fuel supply and pricing, but growing skepticism from both the public and some lawmakers suggests the conversation is far from over.

Nairobi, Kenya – In a fiery television appearance that has ignited fresh debate on Kenya’s controversial Government-to-Government (G2G) oil deals, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has sensationally claimed that these arrangements are riddled with political favoritism, with new companies allegedly added as “settlements” following the 2024 protests and the subsequent Ruto-Raila handshake. Speaking on Citizen […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[1

post-3243","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news

https://i0.wp.com/stateupdate.co.ke/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/444988772_880079994159766_2796256017355702299_n-e1727858968765.jpg?fit=1600%2C981&ssl=1
["GET
