The political future of Simba Arati<\/span><\/span> has once again become a topic of intense discussion within the Orange Democratic Movement<\/span><\/span> party after the outspoken leader made what many interpreted as a coded but powerful revelation about succession politics in ODM.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a condolence visit to Richard Onyonka<\/span><\/span> following the death of the Kisii Senator\u2019s mother, Arati called on the Omogusii community to remain united, hinting that the community could soon play a much bigger role in the national political arena. His remarks immediately sparked speculation about his growing influence inside ODM and his possible future ambitions within the party hierarchy.<\/p>\n

Arati, who currently serves as the Governor of Kisii<\/span><\/span> County, stated that he has increasingly been entrusted with key assignments in the party, a move he said demonstrates confidence in his leadership abilities. In what appeared to be a carefully coded message, Arati suggested that the current ODM deputy party leadership has not been very active politically, forcing senior figures within the party to delegate responsibilities to him.<\/p>\n

Political observers interpreted the remarks as an indirect reference to Oburu Odinga<\/span><\/span>, who serves as ODM\u2019s deputy party leader. Arati, however, avoided directly attacking Oburu and instead focused on rallying the Gusii community to prepare for greater political responsibility in the future.<\/a><\/p>\n

The event also saw strong backing for Arati from Gladys Wanga<\/span><\/span>, the Governor of Homa Bay<\/span><\/span> County and a senior ODM figure. Wanga urged the Kisii community to fully support Arati, describing him as a leader with \u201ca very bright political future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her endorsement is being viewed as significant, especially at a time when ODM is quietly navigating conversations around the party\u2019s future leadership and succession plans ahead of the next political cycle.<\/p>\n

At the same time, ODM leaders have moved swiftly to dismiss persistent rumors regarding the health of Oburu Odinga. In recent days, social media had been awash with claims suggesting that the veteran politician was seriously ill, prompting concern among supporters.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, both Oburu and ODM officials have come out strongly to clarify the matter, insisting that he is healthy and actively engaged in party affairs. Party insiders described the reports as false, misleading, and politically motivated.<\/p>\n

Oburu himself reportedly reassured supporters that he is doing well and remains committed to strengthening ODM and supporting its leadership structures. The clarification appears aimed at cooling down growing speculation that succession politics within the party had intensified due to alleged health concerns.<\/p>\n

Even so, Arati\u2019s latest remarks have undoubtedly added fresh energy to conversations about the future direction of ODM. With his rising influence, vocal grassroots support, and increasing visibility within party activities, many now see the Kisii governor as one of the emerging political forces to watch closely in Kenya\u2019s opposition politics.<\/p>\n
