The incident unfolded as the legislator attempted to preside over the official handover of five newly constructed classrooms, a project she says she personally lobbied for. According to Maina, the blockade was orchestrated by local authorities, including the area police boss, who allegedly instructed officers to deny her entry.<\/p>\n
Despite the restriction, residents quickly mobilized, gathering outside the school compound in large numbers. Videos and images circulating online showed the crowd marching towards the school gate alongside the MP, waving twigs and placards while chanting in her support.<\/p>\n
Defying the police presence, Maina addressed the crowd nearby and, with backing from parents, proceeded to launch the classrooms. She condemned what she described as intimidation by local authorities, vowing to continue delivering projects without fear.<\/p>\n
\u201cI shall not be intimidated in my duties, and I will launch every project I have lobbied for without fear. Any initiative is an initiative of the people, by the people and for the people,\u201d she declared.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Maina further accused unnamed leaders allied to President William Ruto\u2019s administration of attempting to hijack or delay the commissioning of projects for political gain.<\/p>\n
Police maintained a heavy presence throughout the standoff, though no major clashes were reported. The motives behind the decision to block the MP remain unclear.<\/p>\n
