Nyamira MCAs have once again initiated an impeachment motion against Governor Amos Nyaribo, accusing him of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and irregular appointments. This marks yet another attempt to oust the county chief amid deepening divisions within the County Assembly.<\/p>\n

The latest motion was filed by Bonyamatuta Ward MCA Julius Kimwomi Matwere,<\/a> who accuses the governor of gross violations of the Constitution and other laws, alongside persistent abuse of office.<\/p>\n

The impeachment push intensifies an already severe political crisis for Governor Nyaribo, marking the third attempt to remove him in a special sitting of the Assembly.<\/p>\n

In September 2024, Nyaribo narrowly survived an impeachment vote by a single margin. Out of 34 MCAs present, 22 voted in favour of his removal, while 12 opposed, with no abstentions\u2014falling short of the two-thirds threshold.<\/p>\n

The previous year, in September 2023, he also escaped impeachment when 18 MCAs voted against his removal. Only 16 supported the motion, again failing to reach the required majority.<\/p>\n
