After the first cohort of learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) completes the Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA), parents and guardians across the country are filled with both excitement and anxiety. The 2025 KJSEA marks a historic milestone in Kenya\u2019s education system, transitioning learners from Junior Secondary to Senior School \u2014 a process being implemented for the first time. Many parents are eager to understand how their children will be placed in various Senior Schools across the nation.<\/p>\n

The placement process is conducted by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in collaboration with the Kenya National Examinations Council<\/a> (KNEC) and the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS).<\/p>\n

Alternatively, the same information will be available through the KEMIS portal, where learners can also download their admission letters and joining instructions.<\/p>\n

Once the selections close, the Ministry will analyze the choices and allocate placements based on performance, student preferences, school capacities, and regional balance \u2014 ensuring fairness and equal opportunity<\/p>\n

After the Ministry of Education completes the placement process, parents and students can check the results online through the official selection portal or the KEMIS website. By entering the assessment number or UIC, learners will instantly know their assigned school.<\/p>\n

From the same platform, students can download their admission letter and joining instructions, which will contain details such as reporting dates, required items, and orientation information.<\/p>\n

This being the first-ever KJSEA transition to Senior School, many parents admit they are unsure about what to expect. Some express concern about how the placement will be done, particularly regarding special needs learners and students from marginalized regions. Learners logged into the Grade 10 School and Career Pathway Selection System, an online platform developed by the Ministry to simplify the process. Using their Junior School NEMIS Unique Identification Code (UIC) and personal password, students they were able to:<\/p>\n
