The draw of the highly coveted UEFA Champions League quarter finals has already taken place. The dates of the said matches were also confirmed after days of intense speculations by football fans all over the world. The quarter finals are now scheduled to take place from 12th to 15th August 2020. With the remaining second leg of the round of 16 fixtures scheduled for 7th and 8th August. The remaining round of 16 fixtures involves the highly anticipated Bayern Munich against Chelsea at Bayern’s Allianz Arena. Spain’s FC Barcelona against Italy’s Napoli to be played at Barca’s Camp Nou.

Christiano Ronaldo’s Juventus up against Olympique Lyon of France, to be played in Turin. And finally Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid up against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad stadium. Manchester City would be going into their fixture shoulder high after UEFA ruled in their favor and gave them the greenlight to have their second leg fixture played at their stadium (Etihad). This is after controversy had emerged following suggestions that the match be played in a neutral ground.

Manchester City now can only wait for the ruling on whether their ban on Champions league football for two seasons would stand or be set aside. The Court of Arbitration Of Sport (CAS) is expected to make a ruling soon following Manchester City’s appeal on the ban. And as for the Champions League quarter finals fixtures, Atalanta would be up against France’s Paris Saint Germain (PSG). Germany’s RB Leipzig will be up against Spain’s Atletico Madrid, whereas the winner between Barca and Napoli will face the winner between Bayern Munich and Chelsea. The winner between Manchester City and Real Madrid will face the winner between Juventus and Lyon.

The winners of the said fixtures would proceed straight to the semi finals, with the semi final matches to be played in a knockout sort of tournament.
