Details On Churches Reopening Ahead Of Uhuru’s Address To The Nation

With few days remaining before the president of the republic of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta addresses the nation concerning various issues of national concern such as the Reopening of school, Lockdown and the nation wide dask to Dawn curfew, the report presented by the COG for the president’s approval is likely indicator that Churches could reopen very soon.

The council of governors on the 2nd of July held a consultative meeting with the group that was tasked to spear head the process of reopening the houses of Worship.
The Committee gave out various protocols that will Aid in the safe reopening of the various houses of Worship that were closed down due to the Corona Virus pandemic that has affected various sectors of the economy.

“Council of Governors Chief Whip, H.E @governorkibwana alongside Chair of the Inter- Faith Council @bishopmuheria & other religious leaders addressing the media with regards to the Protocols on the gradual reopening of Religious Places of Worship at Ufungamano House. CoG has made proposals for the re-opening of places of worship,” The Council Of Governors tweeted.
They urged for the urgent submission of the online form by the ministry of health and interior security which, provides information on what strategies have been put in place to adhere with re-opening protocols.

Every house of worship shall ensure physical distancing at all times by calculating the number of attendees to be allowed in the building and the measurement to be used is 36 square feet, per person (using the seating space).
Religious leaders will discourage interactive choirs and singing during service. The pre-recorded devotional songs will be permitted and consider a ban of use holy water, use sandal wood paste and touching of holy statues in the places of worship.

Churches shall provide for each service, appropriate facilities and adequate supplies including hand washing facilities, clean running water, soap, paper towels, hand sanitizer & disinfectant. They recommend that sanitizing station must be set up close to the door, for people entering & leaving the building.
