Deadly Riots In Washington Disrupt Government Business

Thousands of rioters made their way to the Capitol Complex in Washington DC on Wednesday January 6 in the afternoon, in an attempt to disrupt discussions by lawmakers on election results. The protestors who were supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump had been flown to Washington DC for the riots, from other states.
At around 1 PM the Capitol police were already overwhelmed by protestors who wanted to get into the Capitol Complex. It was then that the Washington DC police were called in to help the Capitol police. A crowd of people overpowered the police blockade and successfully managed to enter into the Capitol Complex building, after which a woman was shot dead within the confusion.Washington DC mayor Muriel E. Bowser requested for military involvement into the situation which had started to get out of hand. Mayor Bowser also imposed a citywide curfew from 6PM to 6AM.
Washington DC police chief Robert Contee said the police had made 52 arrests, four of which were for unlawfully possessing pistols and 47 arrests for curfew violations and unlawful entry.
Two pipe bombs were picked from the scene of the riots. Early on Thursday morning the FBI appealed to members of the public to submit any information that would help them to identify the rioters that invaded Capitol. Three people died of medical complications while getting treatment in hospital. DC Police chief Contee also said 14 police officers were injured during the riots, two of them with serious wounds. Contee stated he was working with other security agencies to keep Washington DC safe before and after Inauguration day, which is January 20.
All former presidents of the USA came together to condemn President Trump and his supporters for the riots. From Barack Obama to Bill Clinton to George Bush, they all denounced the riots stating it was in deed a shameful moment for the nation. Obama blamed Republicans fof playing along with Trump’s tricks, telling them to accept reality. On Thursday morning the White House social media pages confirmed there will be a smooth transition of power on Inauguration day, on behalf of President Trump, who is not allowed on social media websites.
