Nyamira county has recorded first covid-19 case today on Sunday June 14, 2020. The governor of Nyamira John Nyagarama has confirmed the case. Speaking at local radio station Minto FM via a phone call, Nyagarama asserted that the individual who was contradicted with the virus came for a funeral from Nairobi and he has been interacting with diverse people since his arrival. The case was confirmed at bondeni in Kebirigo as per reports.
However, governor Nyagarama asserted that his county government in conjunction with the Ministry of health have started hunting the individuals who are suspected to have been contacted with covid-19 positive individual. Nyagarama said the suspects will be taken to a quarantine center at Sironga Girls high school for 14 days for testing.Nyamira county also has set aside isolation facility will appropriate equipments to cater for covid-19 patients as Nyagarama ascertains.
Additionally, the cabinet secretary of health Mutahi while addressing the state at Nyeri county,affirmed that the government cannot stop covid-19 but it’s upon individual’s responsibility to take preventive measures. He further advised Kenyans to wear masks and use of hand sanitizer when purchasing vegetable terming as an action that can stimulate the spread of covid-19 following the frequent contact with vegetables by diverse buyers.
