The reality of the second wave of Covid-19 has started dawning on Kenyans as the ministry has recorded a rise in the number of cases.

Today the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 724 people tested positive for COVID-19 from a sample size of 5,085 in the last 24 hour, between ages one-year-old and 84 years. Our positivity rate today was 14.2%.

” Kilifi is number 11 out of 47 counties with 678 confirmed cases. There is need to relook at the measures we have here between ourselves and your (county) government to avoid further escalation,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe remarked.

Mutahi Kagwe warned that there is a sharp increase in COVID-19 positivity rate lately, because over the last one week, we have seen close to 100 deaths, the highest number.

The health CS remarked, “we need to think about what to escalate and what to de-escalate, in terms of the country’s openness.”

Cs Kagwe warned that there will be no movement of patients from one county to another, If the cases continue to increase in the current manner and thus each county will have to take care of its patients.
