Police detectives in Baringo are investigating a scenario where a police officer is alleged to have killed a bar owner due to a ksh 450 bill.
Robinson Ndiwa, the Baringo County Police Commander confirms the arrest by saying that the officer who is attached to Bartabwa Police Post is in custody at Kabarnet Police Station awaiting arraignment.
According to the police commander, the officer involved stabbed the owner of the bar on Wednesday at around 1am, following a disagreeing over the bill.
Ndiwa said that they received the information concerning an incident in the morning that a man has been killed at Kipsereman. The wife to the deceased said that her husband was murdered by the officer after failing to agree on the payment of the bill.
Sending a message to the bar owners and patrons who are defying government-sanctioned curfew, Ndiwa said that the police have tightened the belt on the enforcement of Covid-19 protocols.
The police commander stated that it was very unfortunate that the incident happened during curfew hours and therefore sends warning to any bar owner who is selling alcohol within the prohibited timeframe assuring them that they will be arrested and prosecuted.
This incident follows hours after a police constable attached to VIP protection at the Interior Ministry, murdered his wife after a domestic altercation emerged.
According to the Police IG, Hillary Mutyambai, the suspect, Mr Hadson Mkondo Wakise pointed the gun on himself after murdering his wife Pauline Wakasa, who is a traffic police officer attached to Nairobi’s Kilimani Police Station.
The two exchanged some bitter words and also the wife accused him of being unfaithful which resulted to the husband going out of the house only to return shortly to the sitting room hence drawing out his Jericho pistol and fired severally at his wife’s chest killing her instantly.
