TSC adverts for promotion. TSC CEO Nancy Macharia stated that it will spend at least 2.2 billion to promote teachers stagnating in the same job group for a longer period.
The move of 4,595 primary school teachers from JOB GROUP C 1 to JOB GROUP C2 will cost a total of 600 million shillings.
She informed the National Assembly Education Committee that a total of 4,750 diploma instructors in Employment Group C2 would require Sh1 million in order to be promoted to Work Group C3.
Julius Melly, the chairman of the education committee, urged the commission to reward and promote teachers who had been working in an acting capacity as well as those who had stagnated in the same job group for many years.
Macharia claimed that the lack of funding was the reason why teachers in the same job groups were stagnating, and he urged the government to provide them the Sh2,175,038,528 they require to carry out teacher promotions.
“To solve the issue, the commission requires Sh2.2 million to elevate teachers,” Macharia added.
