The Mashujaa Day celebrations that took place in Gusii stadium was characteristized by politics as the leaders confronted each other directly and indirectly.

Former prime minister Raila Odinga and the deputy president Dr William Ruto presence at the venue was a clear sign of the politics ahead of their address.

Raila Odinga was the first to speak, he addresssed nation concerning the Building bridges initiative and acknowledged the fact that It encompasses the needs of the residents.

Deputy President Dr William Ruto confronted the former prime minister concerning the BBI as he insisted that as a nation we must have a more robust conversation.

“My friend the former Prime Minister has told us about the BBI reggae, but I guess we will have a robust national conversation that will bring everybody on board.” Said DP William Ruto.

Uhuru Kenyatta indirectly attacked the deputy president as he said that the Constitutional change is not just about creating positions for some people but inclusivity of all communities in the country.

“Our nation, Kenya, is still a working progress. It has its good and its bad, it has its ugly but it also has its sweet. If our attention always reverts to the bad and the ugly, all energy will flow to the negative and we will become of angry people.” President Uhuru Kenyatta went on to say.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Margaret Kenyatta became the first recipients of sample Huduma Cards. CS Matiang’i reported that the process of integration of public personal data will ensure that every Kenyan gets a single source of identity (Huduma Namba).
