On Thursday night, April 29, Manchester United welcomed AS Roma at the Old Trafford for the first leg game of the Europa League semi final. It was a thrilling match that witnessed quite a lot of goals.


Manchester United came from behind and secured a 6-2 win against their visitors Roma. They will be heading to Roma next week for the second leg. Here is what was witnessed in that match.


1. Bruno Fernandes’ brace.
Bruno Fernandes bagged two goals for Manchester United. He gave them the opening goal in the 9th minute after receiving an assist from Edinson Cavani. He later scored in the 71st minute from the penalty spot. The penalty was awarded to Man United after Roma’s Chris Smalling committed a dangerous play against Cavani. The VAR intervened and the referee decided to stay with the initial call.

2. Pellegrini’s qualizer.
Lorenzo Pellegrini made it 1-1 in favour of Roma in the 15th minute. He scored from the penalty spot after Pogba handled the ball in the penalty area.


3. Edin Dzeko’s goal.
Dzeko scored the second goal for Roma in the 34th minute after getting an assist from Lorenzo Pellegrini. This goal kept them ahead up to the end of first half.

4. Cavani’s brace.
Edinson Cavani was at his best that night. He scored two goals for United in the 48th and 64th minutes. He also provided two assists.


5. Paul Pogba’s goal.
Paul Pogba scored the fifth goal for Man United in the 75th minute after receiving a fantastic assist from Bruno Fernandes.

6. Greenwood’s goal.
Mason Greenwood sealed the win for Manchester United with the sixth goal in the 86th minute. He was offered an assist by Edinson Cavani.

7. Man United’s possession.
Manchester United dominated in ball possession as compared to Roma. They had a ball possession of 64% by the end of the match.

8. Pau Lopez’s saves.

Roma’s goalkeeper Pau Lopez tried to give his best. He made a total of 5 crucial saves.
