6 Things Witnessed In Tottenham’s 2-0 Loss Against Leicester City

On Sunday afternoon December 20, Tottenham welcomed Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The match was so tight and the two teams needed that win so much. Leicester managed to beat Tottenham 2-0.

Leicester have now climbed to position two in the premier league table with 27 points while Tottenham have maintained the 25 points and dropped to position four. What was witnessed in that match is as follows.

1. Jamie Vardy’s penalty.

Jamie Vardy gave Leicester the lead from the penalty spot shortly before half time break. Leicester were awarded the penalty after Serge Aurier pushed Wesley Fofana in the penalty box. The referee had not given them the penalty but after VAR check the referee changed the call and decided to give the penalty.


2. Maddison’s disallowed goal.

James Maddison almost doubled Leicester’s lead in the 48th minute but his goal was cancelled after VAR checked and Maddison was ruled offside.

3. Alderweireld’s own goal.

Tottenham’s defender Toby Alderweireld gifted Leicester their second goal when he scored an own goal in the 60th minute. This clearly showed that pressure had mounted on Tottenham’s side.

4. Leicester’s clean sheet.

Leicester made sure that they maintained the 2-0 clean sheet up to the end of the match. Despite Tottenham threatening to score, Leicester’s defenders remained intact and denied Tottenham even a single goal.

5. Tottenham’s ball possession.

Tottenham looked so great in terms of ball possession. They controlled the ball so well and this gave Leicester problems at some time. Tottenham had a ball possession of 56% by the end of the match.

6. Goalkeepers’ saves.

Both goalkeepers from each team were committed to making great saves. Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris and his Leicester counterpart Kasper Schmeichel made 3 saves each.
