6 Talking Points From Tottenham’s 3-0 Win Against Leeds United

On Saturday January 2, Tottenham reaped big when they hosted Leeds United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tottenham hammered their visitors Leeds United 3-0 and climbed three points up in the premier league table. The following happened in that match.

1. Harry Kane’s Penalty.

Harry Kane put Tottenham ahead in the 29th minute from the penalty spot. Tottenham got the penalty after Leeds’ Ezgjan Alioski tripped Steven Bergwijn in the penalty box. The VAR checked it after which the referee stayed with his initial his call to award the penalty.

2. Heung-Min Son’s goal.

In the 43rd minute, Heung-Min Son doubled Tottenham’s lead. He was assisted by Harry Kane. Son and Kane have been a great combination lately and they can’t stop doing it for Tottenham.

3. Toby Alderweireld’s goal.

A few minutes into the second half, Toby Alderweireld. He scored in the 50th minute after getting an assist from Heung-Min Son. That goal sealed Tottenham’s win that afternoon.

4. Matty Doherty’s red card.

Tottenham were reduced to ten men towards the final whistle when Matty Doherty was sent off. Matty Doherty was shown his second yellow card which stands to be a red card. He was shown the card after a rough foul against Pablo Hernandez. Matty Doherty had been shown the first yellow card when he fouled Luke Ayling.

5. Leeds ball possession.

Leeds United looked strong in possessing the ball. They had a greater ball possession percentage as compared to their opponents Tottenham. They finished the match with a ball possession of 64%. That was something outstanding from them despite losing away from home.

6. Goalkeepers’ saves.

Both Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris and Leeds United’s Illan Meslier were fantastic between the sticks in regards to making critical saves. Lloris made 5 saves while Meslier made 4 saves.
